Wildlife
Located in the heart of the Black Hills National Forest, Yak Ridge is home to a variety of wildlife. Wildlife that you are likely to observe or hear from the cabins include deer, chipmunks, songbirds, squirrels, turkeys, hawks, and owls. On occasion, bald eagles, elk, coyotes, and fox can also be seen and/or heard.
The Black Hills are also home to an abundance of other wildlife that you might encounter while site-seeing including buffalo/bison, antelope, mountain goats, prairie dogs, and big horn sheep.
Centrally located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, and just a few miles from Mount Rushmore, Yak Ridge Cabins are near Rapid City, Hill City, Keystone, Custer State Park, and Crazy Horse. Deadwood, Spearfish Canyon, Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, and Badlands National Park are within 30 minutes to an hour of Yak Ridge. The area offers something for couples, families, and solo travelers: parks, wildlife, hiking, climbing, biking, lakes, streams, fishing, caves, museums, history, native culture, dining, shopping, micro breweries, wineries, and relaxing.
